Petronella Phillips, BSN, BS, RN, CCRP

Nurse Care Manager

Petronella has a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the College of New Rochelle where she was honored for her nursing excellence by the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in Health Services Administration from Lehman College/CUNY where she was a Macauley Scholar. Petronella has over 20 years of experience as an Registered Nurse working in both in-patient and community settings. She has a strong clinical background in oncology nursing, leadership and research and most recently held the position of Clinical Nurse Manager for the oncology service line at New York Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Hospital. As a nurse researcher, Petronella has over 12 years of experience in all capacities of clinical trials and worked with Mount Sinai Hospital and NYU Langone in several key research trials such as the initial Herceptin Trial in 2005 and the recent Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in 2020 – 2021. As a nutritionist, she has worked with numerous families at the Corona WIC Program in New York. Petronella is working with HealthSense as she completes her Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Mercy College. 

I love people! Connecting with clients in a deep and impactful way and advocating for them to have the best possible outcomes has been my life’s passion. When a family member of mine was diagnosed with cancer at a young age, I was drawn to the oncology nursing field so I could make a tangible difference for those who needed me most. My degree in nutrition was also important for my work in helping those battling cancer diagnoses to get stronger after treatment and it rounded out my holistic approach to healing. Working with HealthSense as a care manager in the community has enabled me to transform client’s lives. Seeing an older adult and their loved ones move from a place of fear, frustration and anxiety to a place of trust, courage and calm fuels my deep sense of purpose and gives me enormous satisfaction.
